With no refined sugar, inflammatory oils, or processed caramel, these upgraded apples deliver sweetness your hormones can actually work with.

Ingredients

For the Collagen Caramel:

  • ½ cup grass-fed butter
  • ½ cup raw honey
  • 2 scoops collagen peptides (unflavored)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • Pinch of sea salt

For the Apples:

  • 4–6 small crisp apples (Honeycrisp, Pink Lady, or Granny Smith)
  • 1 cup dark chocolate chips (70% cacao or higher)
  • 1 tbsp coconut oil

Optional Toppings:

  • Crushed nuts (pecans, almonds, or pistachios)
  • Unsweetened coconut flakes
  • Sea salt flakes
  • Cacao nibs

How to Make Chocolate Caramel Apples

  1. Prep the apples: Wash and dry the apples thoroughly. Remove stems and insert popsicle sticks or skewers into the top. Place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
  2. Make the collagen caramel:
In a small saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
Add honey and whisk continuously for about 5–7 minutes until it starts to thicken and turn golden.
Remove from heat, then quickly whisk in the collagen peptides, vanilla, and a pinch of salt.
Let it cool slightly until it’s thick but still pourable.
  3. Dip the apples: Roll each apple in the warm caramel, turning to coat evenly. Place back on the parchment sheet. Chill in the fridge for 10–15 minutes to set.
  4. Add chocolate coating: Melt the dark chocolate chips with coconut oil in a heat-safe bowl over simmering water (double boiler) or in 20-second microwave intervals. Once smooth, drizzle or dip the caramel-coated apples into the chocolate. Immediately add toppings before the chocolate hardens.
  5. Set and serve: Chill again for 10–15 minutes, then enjoy! Store leftovers in the fridge for up to 3 days.

Storage Tips

  • Store caramel apples in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
  • For best texture, enjoy them chilled—this keeps the caramel firm and the chocolate crisp.
  • If serving at a gathering, remove from the fridge 5–10 minutes before enjoying.

How This Supports Women’s Hormone & Wellness Health

This recipe blends hormone-supportive nutrients with a fun, seasonal treat—without relying on refined sugar or processed caramel. Raw honey offers natural sweetness with minerals and enzymes that are gentler on blood sugar, helping stabilize cortisol and reduce insulin spikes. The grass-fed butter provides vitamin A, D, and healthy fats essential for hormone production. Collagen supports skin elasticity, gut lining integrity, and joint health—all crucial for hormonal balance and inflammation control.

Dark chocolate brings antioxidants and magnesium, a mineral many women are deficient in, which helps ease PMS symptoms, support sleep quality, and calm the nervous system. Apples add fiber and polyphenols that support digestion, detoxification pathways, and steady energy. When combined, these ingredients create a dessert that deeply nourishes while still tasting indulgent—proof that hormone-friendly eating can be both supportive and satisfying.
